The domestic main drive of the 14m shield is installed in Shanghai Regional Airport contact line

The 14m-class super-large diameter mud-water balanced shield, independently developed by Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co., LTD, is used for the construction of Shanghai Municipal Airport's liaison line. With a total length of about 92m, the shield can meet the tunneling requirements of the minimum horizontal curve radius of 450m. The rear part is equipped with a 3-section integrated frame, which adopts the design of landing wheel, which can deal with many complicated working conditions such as deep burial depth and small turning radius.

It is reported that the super-diameter shield machine's main drive is also developed and manufactured by The Shanghai tunnel. Recently, the domestic main drive is installed in place. The cutter disk drive device has a total weight of 280t, a diameter of 8.2m and a width of 3.6m. It is the largest drive independently developed in China. The external sealing of the driving device is composed of several toothed sealing rings, which can withstand great external pressure.
