10 shield tunneling machines of Guangzhou Metro Line 18 have been completed

Recently, the "Guorong" shield tunneling machine responsible for the right line tunnel construction of shaxi to Garagang section of Guangzhou Metro Line 18, and the "Tiebing 17" shield tunneling machine responsible for the left line tunnel construction of No. 3 intermediate air well and No. 4 shield tunnel of Hengli to Panyu Square (hereinafter referred to as "Hengpan Interval") have successfully completed their construction tasks and "tunneling" successfully. Among them, the exit of "Tiebing No.17" marked the completion of two lines between no. 3 intermediate air shaft and No. 4 shield shaft in Hengpan District. It is reported that up to now, line 18 has a total of 10 shield tunneling machines, 34 at the same time underground construction.

The single line between Shaxi station and Garagang Station is 4.3 kilometers long, which is the longest tunnel tunneled by a single shield in the whole line. The shield tunneling machine needs to cross viaducts, expressways and wetland parks, etc., and cross rivers for many times, among which 480 meters cross the back channel of the Pearl River, so the construction is difficult and risky. During the construction process, all the participating units jointly set up a shield tunneling support team. In terms of days, weeks and months, special personnel are arranged to do the maintenance work of shield tunneling machine, gantry crane and other key equipment regularly to ensure the good operation of the equipment. At the same time, experts are invited to repeatedly demonstrate the scheme, further optimize and improve the construction parameters on the basis of the experience of other lines crossing the river, formulate various countermeasures, reasonably choose the tunneling mode, and ensure the completion of the construction task as scheduled.

The left line tunnel between no. 3 intermediate air shaft and No. 4 shield shaft in Hengpan interval is about 2.91 km long. The underpass of the tunnel in this area is typical upper soft and lower hard stratum, which is very difficult to construct. In the construction process, builders shall implement 24-hour continuous monitoring, real-time measurement of ground settlement, strengthen ground patrol inspection, and apply information-based monitoring to effectively control tunneling parameters, so as to successfully complete the tunnel in accordance with the established objectives.
