The "fastest subway" under construction in China, running under the right line of the Pearl River section, has been successfully completed

On November 12, at the construction site of guangzhou Metro Line 18, the "fastest subway" under construction in China, the "Tiebing no. 40" shield tunneling machine broke through the Pearl River, and the right line tunnel of Guangzhou Metro Line 18 under the Pearl River section, contracted by China Railway No.14 Bureau, was successfully completed.

According to Chen Zhen, the site construction supervisor of the 14th Bureau of China Railway, the shield construction will cover the distance from Pazhou West Station of Guangzhou Metro Line 18 to Xian Village Station, with a total length of 3 kilometers. After its departure from Pazhou West Railway Station, the shield tunneling machine made two small radius turns under the Pearl River in the shape of "S", with a distance of 1612 meters. It was also the first time for a subway tunnel to cross the Pearl River in a small distance.

In view of the complex stratigraphic structure under the Pearl River, when the shield tunneling machine penetrates the main waterway of the Pearl River, the construction personnel grasp the tunneling situation of the shield tunneling in real time through the remote monitoring system, and strictly control the tunneling parameters to ensure the construction safety.

Guangzhou Metro Line 18 has a designed maximum speed of 160 km/h, which is the highest designed high-speed metro line in China.
