The Yuzhu tunnel will start construction next month and open to traffic in May 2025

Recently, the Yuzhu Tunnel started EIA announcement. The Yuzhu Tunnel starts from Haizhu Xingang East Road in the south, runs north through the Pearl River and Beidisha Island, and runs through Huangpu Avenue before being ground to the south of the left branch of Sham Chung.

The total investment is 558,911,300 Yuan. The construction period will be 48 months. The construction will start in May 2021 and open to traffic in May 2025. Its main line is 6 lanes in both directions.

Yuzhu Tunnel is an urban trunk road with a red line width of 60m and a design speed of 60km/h (50km/h is used in some parts). A two-way six-lane immersed tube tunnel is adopted in the middle section of the river. The total length of the project is about 2.594km, among which the tunnel section is 2.404km (935m in the middle section of the river). There are two interchanges on the whole line, from south to north: Xingang East Road Interchange and Huangpu Avenue Interchange.

After the opening of Yuzhu Tunnel, it will contribute to the transportation connection between Science City, Financial City, Yuzhu Core Area, University Town, Innovation City and other scientific and technological innovation belts. It will only take 5 minutes to connect the two sides of the Straits, greatly improving the commuting efficiency.
