Longshui South Road cross river tunnel is designed as the city's sub-trunk road, the main line of the tunnel design speed of 40 km/h, two-way four lanes, the focus of the pudong sanlin south, qiantan area to Shanghai South Railway Station, Xuhui binjiang and other areas of the medium and short distance traffic.

According to the report, since the construction of the tunnel on South Longshui Road started on December 25, 2019, the overall progress of the tunnel has been smooth. As the key node of the new cross-river tunnel project, the extra-deep foundation pit of No.1 working well in Pudong, which will accommodate the 14m extra-large diameter shield tunneling machine, has been officially excavated.

Due to the mature residential areas around the south Longshui Road in Puxi section, and many pipelines under the road, the construction conditions are harsh. To this end, the tunnel share design and construction team will use a diameter of 14 meters, about five stories high oversized diameter shield, through the Huangpu River to build a double-layer two-way four-lane Yue Jiang tunnel main line; Later, the tunnel was divided into two north-south lines in Pudong. The construction team then used two small shield machines with a diameter of 11.36 meters to build a single-storey, one-way, two-lane branch tunnel crossing Qiantan Avenue, the north line connecting haiyang West Road and the south line connecting Gaoqing West Road. Finally, the "one big and two small" combination of large shield crossing the river and small shield crossing the densely populated urban area is used to reduce the impact of construction on the surrounding environment.

Reporters learned that the current excavation of no. 1 working well in Pudong, located in the Pudong Qiantan leisure park, foundation pit is a "wrench", the future will become "one big two small" three shield starting Wells. Foundation pit excavation is scheduled to be completed in early 2022 to ensure the smooth follow-up of the project.
