On October 12, the super-large diameter shield tunneling machine "Juli No. 1", which is under construction in China with the highest water pressure and the largest diameter, was put off the production line and will be used in the construction of the Jingjiang Yangtze River tunnel project in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province.

Jiangyin Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel is one of the 44 Yangtze River crossing channels in Jiangsu province in the Layout Plan of Yangtze River Crossing Channel (2020-2035). It starts from Jingjiang Gongxin Highway in the north and ends at Jiangyin Furong Avenue in the south, crossing the Yangtze River by means of shield tunnel sail. Jiangyin Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel is constructed according to the standard of two-way six-lane expressway, with a designed driving speed of 80 km/h. It is expected to open to traffic in December 2025. It will become a model landmark project in Jiangsu province in the construction of a transportation power and an innovative project in the construction of large-diameter shield tunnel with high water pressure in China. The project has three characteristics: large, high and long. The diameter of the tunnel is 16.09 meters, which is the largest shield tunnel in China. Designed to bear the maximum water pressure of 1.2 mpa, it is the largest super-large diameter tunnel under construction in China. The tunnel is 6445 meters long, of which the shield tunnel is 4952 meters, which is the second longest Yangtze River tunnel in China. The shield machine needs to go through the Yangtze River dike, shipyard, wharf and other sensitive buildings; The fine sand, medium and coarse sand with rich cementation and high quartz content stratum; Hazardous gas area and other complex bottom layer.

Complex geological conditions and high standard construction requirements pose a high challenge to the performance and intelligence degree of shield tunneling machine. "Juli NO. 1" has a diameter of 16.09 meters, a length of 140 meters, and a weight of 5,000 tons. It is the largest diameter shield tunneling machine in China at present, and solves the construction problem of "ten tunnels and nine leaks" under high water pressure caused by super-large diameter shield tunneling machine. The localization rate of the shield has reached more than 95%.
