Engineers and technicians of China Railway 14th Bureau install sections in the tunnel of the connecting line of Shanghai Airport on Oct 20, 2022. Shanghai Airport Link Line is the first municipal railway in Shanghai, with a total length of 68.6 kilometers, running through several districts in Shanghai, starting from Hongqiao Hub and ending at Shanghai East Railway Station. There are 9 stations along the line, with a designed speed of 160 kilometers per hour. It is the first municipal railway demonstration project connecting with the national railway network in China.

The surrounding environment of the tunnel is complex. The minimum distance of the long-distance parallel Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed railway is only 8.1 meters, and the settlement and displacement exceed the limit should be controlled within 2 mm. It is the first large-diameter shield tunnel with small spacing and long-distance parallel operation of high-speed railway in China. Crossing the operation of rail transit, municipal roads, Bridges and other important buildings (structures), 8 of which are A-level risk sources; Under the Shanghai-Kunming expressway, the minimum clear distance between the cutter head and the bridge pile foundation is only 0.65 meters, which is the first in China.

On the same day, the "New Crossing" shield machine of the airport line of the China Railway 14th Bureau has smoothly passed under the line of the subway No. 12 in operation, and the tunneling length has reached 2,624 meters.

It is understood that the second section of the Shanghai AIRPORT link line contracted by China Railway 14th Bureau is the key control project of the whole line. The total length of the shield tunnel is 4939.8 meters, the outer diameter of the segment is 13.6 meters, and the maximum buried depth is 35.8 meters.
