The diversion tunnel of the first phase of the Xujiang diversion project in Suzhou City started smoothly
On September 5, the first shield tunnel of Jiangsu Province's water diversion project, the diversion tunnel of Suzhou Xujiang Water diversion Project Phase I, started smoothly and officially entered the shield tunneling construction stage.
As a major livelihood project, the first phase of Suzhou Xujiang water diversion project includes water diversion tunnel and Yuecheng River gate station project, making full use of the location advantage of the city near Taihu Lake in the south, drawing natural water potential from the west to the east, connecting Taihu Lake with Gusu City through the millennium waterway of the Xujiang River, increasing the supply of fresh water source in Gusu City, and comprehensively coordinating the water diversion in the city, water preservation in Stone Lake and living water demand in the surrounding area. The diversion tunnel excavated by the shield is 2.1 kilometers long and 6.2 meters in diameter. Of this, 1.7 km is under the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The minimum clear distance between the tunnel arch and the river bottom is 8.1 meters, the geological conditions at the bottom of the river bed are complicated, and the hydraulic relationship with the river is close, so it is easy to cause the dangerous situation such as seepage and tunnel collapse during the shield construction.
In the face of the requirements of shield long distance river bottom excavation, the project technical team carried out technical innovation to strengthen the anti-blowout capability and the sealing of the shield tail, and effectively control the soil settlement.
The project is expected to be completed in April 2024. After completion, with the implementation of the "clean water project" in the urban area, the water in the urban area will be "clearer and clearer" to meet the people's beautiful yearning for the construction of an ecological civilization city.
