On November 23, in the underground hole at the end of the station with a depth of 18 meters, the cutter head of the shield machine weighing more than 500 tons slowly rotated, marking the opening of the "underground journey" of the left line shield machine in the section from Wanjiazui Station to Baiyushan Station of the first phase of the Wuhan Metro Xingang Line.

The main body of Wanjiazui station is set in the east-west direction along Qinghua Road. It is designed as an underground two-storey island station with a total length of 241 meters and a total width of 20 meters. Wanjiazui Station is designed as a two-way departure station, which is responsible for the starting of a total of 4 shield machines from Tiepuling Station to Wanjiazui Station and the double line of Wanbai section respectively.

Because Qinghua Road is the main traffic line for Wuhan Iron and Steel Works and Qingshan Chemical Industry Zone to the outside world, there are many large transport vehicles. According to reports, in order to ensure the smooth flow of traffic relief roads, the east end of Wanjiazui station is designed with a traffic relief cover plate, and only one hole is reserved at the station for the double-line shield machine hoisting down the well in the Wanbai section. The project department has repeatedly optimized and formed the final construction plan: this time, the left line between Wanbai zones was lifted from the right line by the shield tunneling machine, and then moved to the left line. During the construction period, the main responsible persons of the participating parties monitored and controlled the whole process, ensuring the safety of the whole process of the shield tunneling machine lifting down the well and moving in the station.

After the Wanbai section line from Wanjiazui station along Qinghua Road from west to east, the left line of the starting Wanbai section is 2148 meters long, the longitudinal slope of the line is a "V" slope, and the thickness of the tunnel soil cover is 11 to 28 meters. The strata in this section are mainly silty clay, strong weathered silty mudstone and medium weathered silty silty siltstone, which is prone to the phenomenon of "mud cake" in soil silts of shield tunneling machine, and the improvement of muck soil will be the key to rapid excavation in this section. The construction side repeatedly tested to find the improved formula, and selected a high-quality foam, which can lubricate the tool, improve the soil, improve the soil plasticity, and reduce the effect of the internal temperature of the soil bin to ensure the uniform speed of the shield tunneling machine.

In order to ensure the overall construction period of the first phase of the new Port Line, along with the start of the left line in the Wanbai section, the right line is scheduled to start in mid-December. At the scene, the right line shield machine has been down the well to complete the assembly. The construction side organized more than 80 operators to complete the assembly and debugging of the right line shield machine simultaneously to prepare for the start of the right line while ensuring the safe driving of the left line.

The first phase of Wuhan Metro Xingang Line starts from Beiyangqiao Station in Yangchunhu District, passes Mingde Road, Qingwang Road and Qinghua Road along the way, and ends at Baiyushan Station, with a total length of 10.9 kilometers and 5 stations, all of which are underground stations.
