Recently, Shanghai Metropolitan Railway Nanhui Branch Line 5 ushered in new progress in construction. With the successful reception of the first 9-meter earth pressure balancing shield machine "Donglin No. 1" in Lingang Comprehensive Area Station, it marks the successful completion of the right line tunnel from Dongda Highway Station to Lingang Comprehensive Area Station, which is also the first tunnel completed in Nanhui Branch Line.

In the section of shield tunnel from 5 Biao Dongda Highway Station to Lingang Comprehensive District Station, the left line length of the line is about 719.4 meters, and the right line length is about 714.7 meters. The longitudinal slope of the tunnel is one-way slope, the maximum slope is 8.43‰, the minimum slope is 2‰, the buried depth of the tunnel top is 6.4 meters to 9.4 meters, and a contact channel is set up. Two soil pressure balancing shield machines with a diameter of 9.33 meters are used for construction in the section. Both lines start from Dongda Highway Station and are promoted to Lingang Comprehensive District Station for reception. At present, another "East Lin-2" shield machine responsible for the left line of the interval is actively making preparations for the start of the work.

In order to ensure the timely, safe and smooth reception of the shield machine, the project team strictly implemented the management policy of "safety first, prevention first and prevention combined", constantly optimized the shield construction plan, carefully analyzed and judged the risk points, and carefully formulated the emergency response plan to minimize the construction risks caused by the unfavorable factors of shallow soil cover and high groundwater level. Through scientific organization, strengthening control, practical, deep, and thin key links in the construction process of shield tunneling, continuous improvement of automation level and construction efficiency has laid a solid foundation for the smooth reception of the first shield tunneling machine in the whole line.

The total length of the Nanhui Branch is about 34.86 kilometers, of which the main line is about 27.88 kilometers long, and the east branch is about 6.98 kilometers long. There are 6 stations on the whole line, and the maximum speed of trains is 160 kilometers per hour. After the completion of the project, it will become a fast contact channel between Lingang New Area and Pudong Hub, Hongqiao Hub and the main urban area of Shanghai, as an important support for Lingang New Area to radiate the Yangtze River Delta, and help Lingang New Area to realize the international open hub function of "connecting internal and external, land-sea-air linkage".
