Shanghai Chongtai Yangtze River tunnel tunneling more than 4,200 meters

According to Chongming news, recently, the "pilot" shield machine has broken through 2,100 rings, from Chongming to Taicang in Jiangsu province more than 4,200 meters, is under the Yangtze River Coilia national aquatic germplasm resources conservation area.

At the tunneling site of the "Pilot" shield machine in Chongtai Yangtze River Tunnel, the shield machine is driving forward autonomously at a speed of 16 to 28 meters per day under the state of "manned and unmanned".

Chongtai Yangtze River Tunnel is one of the control projects of the Shanghai-Nanjing to Hefei high-speed railway, connecting Chongming district of Shanghai and Taicang City of Jiangsu Province. The tunnel is 14.25 kilometers long, of which the shield section is 13.2 kilometers long. The cutter diameter of "Pilot" shield machine is 15.4 meters, which is the world's largest diameter high-speed shield machine. Since its inception on April 29, 2024, the team of China Railway Tunnel Bureau, aiming to "build a world-class ultra-large diameter shield crossing the Yangtze River benchmark project", has faced difficulties and challenges such as ultra-large diameter and ultra-long distance single-head excavation, ecological environment sensitivity, and hard formation cement by applying the shield tunnel intelligent construction 2.0 technology system. The intelligent concept and technology were deeply embedded in the whole construction process of Chongtai Yangtze River tunnel, and the record of the maximum excavation of 28 meters in a single day and 718 meters in a single month was created.
