Jinan Huanggang Road Huanggang Tunnel has been excavated 1,500 meters in total and will be opened to traffic in September 2026

Recently, Jinan Huanggang Road through the yellow tunnel after the festival to speed up the construction progress, Jinan Huanggang Road through the yellow tunnel has been excavated nearly 1500 meters, it is planned to achieve the end of 2025 through the tunnel, in September 2026 open to operation.

On February 18, at the construction site of Huanggang Road Tunnel in Jinan, the current construction of the north bank of the Yellow River working well and frame section, the South bank working well and the open and buried main structure have been completed, and the bridge construction of the North bank interchange section and the main structure construction of the South bank ramp section are being carried out. The shield section completed 426 m in December 2024, setting a record for the highest monthly penetration of 17 m shield tunneling, and the current shield construction efficiency is stable at 8-9 loops (16-18 m) per day. The project has accumulated 718 rings (nearly 1,500 meters), accounting for 43.64% of the design total of 1,645 rings (3,290 meters).

The Huanggang Road Tunnel project in Jinan City is located in the starting area of the new and old kinetic energy conversion in Tianqiao District and Jinan City. From the intersection of Lanxiang Middle Road and Huanggang Road in the south, to the north, it successively passes through the Second Ring Road North, the North Expressway, the South Bank levee, the Yellow River, the North bank levee, and the Queshan Reservoir settling pond, and the toll station is set up after the ground, and the end point is connected with the interchange of National Highway 309. The total length of the line is about 5.8 km, of which the tunnel section is about 4.8 km long and the shield section is about 3.3 km long. The tunnel adopts the single-hole double-layer outer diameter 16.8 meters shield tunnel scheme, the road grade is the urban trunk road standard design, two-way 6 lanes, the design speed of 60 kilometers per hour, the total investment of the project is about 7.409 billion yuan. The project has been listed as a major provincial project in 2025.

The project started in December 2022, May 19, 2024 shield machine off the line, September 1 excavation start, shield machine is expected to March 15, 2025 to reach the north bank of the Yellow River embankment, October 1, 2025 to reach the south bank of the Yellow River embankment, the plan is to achieve the end of 2025 tunnel through, in September 2026 open to operation.

It is understood that Jinan Urban Construction Group Co., Ltd. is responsible for the investment, construction and operation of Jinan Huanggang Road through the Yellow tunnel project, the project shield excavation diameter of 17.5 meters, the world's largest diameter underwater shield tunnel. After the completion of the project, it will provide strong support for the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin, and will also help the interconnection between Jinan's main urban area and the starting area for the transformation of old and new kinetic energy, and is a benchmark project to promote Jinan from the "Daming Lake era" to the "Yellow River era".
