Recently, with the launch of the "Tongze" mud-water-gas balance shield machine, the major water conservancy infrastructure project in Shenzhen - the Shawan River Shenzhen Reservoir Diversion and Drainage Project - has officially entered the underground tunnel construction stage. Once completed, it will significantly enhance the flood control and drainage capacity of the Shenzhen Reservoir Basin, which is of great significance for ensuring urban water supply security and improving the water ecological environment.

The Shawan River Shenzhen Reservoir Interception and Drainage Project is a key project in Shenzhen and an important guarantee project for the water quality of the Shenzhen Reservoir's drinking water source. It is also a livelihood project to alleviate the waterlogging in the Shawan River Basin, spanning two administrative regions, Longgang and Luohu. The construction content of this project mainly includes the regulation and storage project and the interception and drainage project. The regulation and storage project involves four regulation and storage lakes, with a total area of 316,100 square meters and a total regulation and storage capacity of 1.3665 million cubic meters. The total length of the tunnel for the interception and drainage project is approximately 6,716 meters, with a designed interception and drainage flow rate of 160 cubic meters per second, including the inlet section, tunnel section and outlet section. Among them, the construction of the tunnel section is particularly crucial, and the slurry balance shield method is adopted.

The "Tongze" slurry, water and gas balance shield machine adopted in this project is the core equipment of the project. Its excavation diameter reaches 10.49 meters and the overall length of the machine is approximately 125 meters. It can handle complex geological conditions such as soft soil, fractured zones and weathered hard rock.

In response to the complex working conditions of shield tunnels, which are characterized by their length, hardness, risk and complexity, after multiple rounds of technological breakthroughs, the project has applied a number of innovative technologies on the shield machine, including a composite pressure-bearing cutter head, a dual-channel sludge discharge system with a screw conveyor and direct discharge of slurry and water, as well as an internal jaw crusher. These innovative designs enable the shield machine to operate in soft soil, fractured zones, and hard rock strata ranging from strong weathering to slightly weathered. All can operate stably.

During the construction process, this project simultaneously utilized the leading domestic shield machine control platform to automatically collect over 300 parameters such as shield machine posture, settlement, and cutter head wear. After analysis and judgment by the control center, it provided a guarantee for construction safety. The project has transformed from experience-driven to data-driven. Relying on the massive construction data of the control platform and artificial intelligence technology, centralized and intelligent management of the shield construction of the Shawan River Diversion Project can be achieved.

In addition, this project will also introduce the first sunken shaft boring machine (VSM) in Shenzhen. This equipment, through precise control of settlement and hydraulic drive, can effectively cope with complex rock strata and environmental conditions, and improve construction accuracy.
