Recently, the lower line tunnel from Dashi Station to Science Center Station of guangzhou-Foshan East Ring Intercity project has been successfully completed, making it the first double-line shield tunnel in the whole line.

The total intercity length of guangzhou-Foshan East Ring road is 46.747km, and the ratio of bridge to tunnel is 100%. The line starts from Guangzhou South Railway Station (not included), and northwards reaches Xinbai-Guangzhou Intercity Bamboo Material Station through Panyu, Huangpu, Haizhu, Tianhe and Baiyun. There are 8 stations in the whole line: Dashi, Science Center, Pazhou, City, Wisdom City, Longdong, Dayuan and Taihe stations.

Among them, the descending line of shield tunneling section from Dashi Station to Science Center Station is 4632.85 meters long, which has passed through the panyu Avenue overpass, Guangzhou Metro Line 18, the affiliated middle school of South China Normal University and other buildings successively, and has twice gone through the Pearl River System. The tunnel is deeply buried, and the groundwater is extremely rich, which makes the construction difficult due to the serious gusher in the tunneling process.

Faced with many problems such as narrow initial site, long distance, large burial depth, hard geology, high water pressure, strong inrush and multi-coordination, PRD Intercity Corporation assisted the participating units to strengthen scientific research, optimize the design scheme, do a good job in process cohesion, pay close attention to safety and quality and other powerful measures. To ensure the safe, efficient and rapid progress of shield construction, the shield machine passed through the high risk points of shallow and deep Pearl River for 2 times, passed through the Panyu School of middle School attached to Chinese Normal University for 4 times, the Panyu Avenue bridge, the high risk points of Guangzhou Metro Line 18, and passed through the South China New Town for 10 times.

Up to now, 77% of the tunnel excavation has been completed.
